Similar in design and layout to River Cottage
and with one adjoining wall, Summer Cottage is ideal for a couple
or 4 people looking for a peaceful getaway. Both the King and
Queen bedrooms open directly into the gardens and have en suite
bathrooms (with bath and or shower) allowing space and privacy.
A sunny and spacious hallway downstairs featuring antique Kauri
stairs and Rimu pews leads up to the open plan living, dining
and kitchen area with beautiful Matai timber floors. Fully equipped
for self-catering the kitchen area has a gas hob, electric oven,
fridge freezer, espresso coffee machine, microwave, crockery &
utensils etc. The living and dining area with relaxing sofas leads
onto an upper deck with tables, chairs and gas bbq. The cottage
is connected to mains power and is equipped with a CD player and
i-pod doc, relaxing candles, fresh flowers and magazines. The
Cottage is TV free and a DVD player is available on request. A
guest computer with high speed broadband internet access and telephone
for free local calls are available in the office.

Relax in your own private
Summer House and romantic al fresco claw foot bath
Summer Cottage guests enjoy the exclusive use
of their very own private Summer House hidden in the far side
of the gardens, complete with its beautiful romantic al fresco
claw foot bath perched on the deck. The Summer House is reserved
exclusively for Summer Cottage guests and is located on the site
of the original Kauri Villa, established over 150 years ago. Now
only the original chimney breast and fire place remain. A pot
belly stove, gas bbq, tables and chairs as well as of course the
beautiful bath make the west facing Summer House the perfect place
for relaxation as a couple or with friends.

In addition to the private Summer House and
its al fresco bath, guests at Summer Cottage have access to all
the amenities at Takou River including the free kayaks, canoes
and fishing rods, beautiful riverfront, secluded swimming spots,
5 acre sub-tropical gardens and Boat House, 150 acre organic farm,
native bush and of course the beautiful deserted sandy beaches
a short paddle downstream at Takou Bay.
