Cottage Accommodation in the Bay of Islands
The Shearers' Cottage provides an indulgent
family getaway for winter and summer. The cottage features a cosy
wood fire, romantic alfresco bath, 3 sunny bedrooms, modern en
suite and family bathrooms, spacious open plan living area and
a fully equipped kitchen.
The north facing cottage overlooks large sun
decks and lawn surrounded by native plants and pastures. Guests
enjoy use of all the amenities at Takou River.

The lovely open plan living area features colourful
kilims, a cosy wood fire and opens onto a large north facing
sun-deck equipped with table and chairs, sun-loungers, sun-shade
and gas bbq. Steps lead from the deck onto the lawn.
The spacious kitchen area is fully equipped for
self-catering with marble bench-tops, an espresso coffee machine,
gas hob and oven, large fridge-freezer, microwave, cooking utensils
and appliances, crockery, cutlery and glassware as well as ample
storage making it ideal for a family.
Alfresco bathing in your
own private bath
The master bedroom is light and spacious. It
has a luxurious king bed, en suite shower room and opens onto
its own private north-west facing deck, complete with relaxing
outdoor bath; the perfect place to relax.
A spacious hall leads to the sunny bunk bedroom,
family bathroom with bath and shower and queen bedroom. Both bathrooms
feature hand-made wooden units, with modern white bench-top sinks
and neutral tiles.
Super-comfortable beds, cotton linen, feather
pillows and duvets, electric blankets, cosy throws, bathrobes,
bath and beach towels together with complimentary toiletries,
candles, fresh flowers, books and magazines ensure your stay is
as relaxing as possible.
The Cottage is TV and cell-phone free, and is
equipped with a DVD player, CD player and i-pod dock. High speed Broadband Internet,
WiFi and free local calls are available in the office. The Shearers’
Cottage is connected to mains power. The cottage also has its
own laundry.

Guests at The Shearers’ Cottage have access
to all the amenities at Takou River with plenty for everyone to
enjoy, including our free kayaks, canoes and fishing rods; beautiful
private riverfront, secluded swimming spots, 5 acre sub-tropical
gardens and Boat House. Let the children explore our 150 acre
organic farm, meet Toulouse the bull and our herd of organic Hereford
cows, ducks, chickens and pigs. Discover the myriad of bird life
and native plants, wander through pastures and along the river
bank on our marked walkway, play in the streams, waterfall and
native bush or take a kayak downstream to the beautiful deserted
sandy beaches at Takou Bay. Come home and relax in the alfresco
bath… or simply bask in the bliss of doing absolutely nothing!
